Exhaust removal 4.2 S/C

Was looking to change the exhaust tips on my 06 4.2 and as the original chromed tips are welded on it doesn't leave a lot of pipe left to clamp onto if you cut them off. I could get someone to weld the new tips on but wondered if it would be easy to remove the back box section to do it on the bench. After looking a parts diagrams I am still not sure if the rear box just slots into the rest of the exhaust (some diagrams show a clamp) or if the whole middle and rear sections are one welded piece? Is it as simple as taking the rear box off the hanger, and with a few taps with a hammer that section would slot out (I bet not)?
Thanks.

I don't know the o.d of the s/c pipe or the tailpipe tips you are going to use, but L/R use this style clamp for fitting the exhaust tips on the exhaust when fitting the HST body kit which means no welding. they are available in three different diameters, 50, 55 & 60mm. Only a suggestion and certainly wouldn't pay L/R prices but probably available aftermarket.

Cheers

Not sure if it helps but here is a picture of my exhaust system from my 4.2SC when I had the middle resonator box removed and it was on the bench. Looks like they are welded on?

If we all point our RR's in the same direction and accelerate at the same time can we turn back time?

Did notice this for sale on ebay which makes me think the rear section is detachable, but probably using a clamp is simpler as long as there is enough tube left before the silencer after grinding off the original tip.
