England 2005 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Giverney Green
2005 RRS Rear glass tail gate will not open

Hi everyone help please.
If I have all the doors unlocked and press the round button the whole tail gate opens. If I have all the doors unlocked and press the rubber button between the number plate light the whole tail gate opens and not the glass only.
I can’t see that the rubber switch is faulty as it seem to work but not with the correct result.
Any info appreciated.
Thanks Steve

Weird.

Maybe check the cables aren’t shorted as they leave the tailgate into the car.

Purple wires I think

Check the switches have have a good earth on one side

Sounds electrical.

I've had issues with the rubber switch but only when it failed to operate the top half of the tailgate. Not had a problem where the rubber switch lifts the whole tailgate. My starting point on quirky things like this on MY05 is to check battery is fully charged, maybe put the fault code reader on and check all is ok there. Maybe check all windows and doors are fully closed and lock & unlock with the fob a couple of times to see if that resets anything. Sorry can't be of more help. Barrie.

Is it worth try to program the LR button on the fob to open it. Just a thought but maybe wrong. 2006 2.7 TDV6 HSE in Cairns Blue.

Just had another thought... and I know it sounds strange but these beasts are strange in themselves... I'd try pushing the 'panic lock' button on the dash a couple of times.

I've baffled myself sometimes as to how I've managed to clear some faults! Shocked

And those of us with these antique models have to try everything Whistle Barrie.
