Lose Nut! Please help identify!

Dear all,

Today I noticed that a nut has fallen from the underside of the car. I am not sure from which component it is from, but is located around the front left/mid side of the car. The car is question is a 2018 RRS L494. Please see the photos below. It would truly be great if someone can give an advice on what this is. Should I be concerned about it and bring it into the dealership to get the car checked out?

Thanks

That could belong in a lot of different places. What’s odd is it looks to me like a locking flange nut. Those don’t tend to just undo themselves.

Any service done recently? Start with looking at what was worked on and the surrounding area.

I can imagine the situation if you take it to the dealer; you hand them the key and the nut, they pull the car in, throw away the nut, tech spends 30 minutes texting under the hood, then they say you’re all set to go.

It’s also possible it fell while a tech was working on the car, they replaced it, and the original finally fell out. Add 10-30 minutes trying to figure out where the nut that fell disappeared to, or take 2 minutes to grab a new one and keep going?
