Coolant warning AND 'restricted mode' issues......HELP PLS!

Hi all,

RRS 2011.
3.0 TDV6.
175,000 kms.

About 6 months ago I had two manifolds changed (just a local garage) as they were putting the car into 'Restricted Mode' when I put my foot down a bit on the motorway. For a while, it was fine but recently, it happened again. It seems ok if I just cruise at around 120-140 kph and don't really floor it.

Then, about 2 weeks ago I turned off the A/C (possibly the first time ever) and within a few minutes a "LOW COOLANT LEVEL" warning came up. I turned the A/C back on and the next time I drove, it seemed ok, until I'd driven about 15 kms when it came back on (at around 120 kph on the motorway).

So, I have a few questions......

1. Do you think the two things are connected please?
2. How long would you think the warranty on a manifold on a non-dealer garage should be please?

Thanks AGAIN for any advice. It's so hard to get any help here in Spain.......

Cheers!

Hi I don’t think they are connected but the coolant tanks are notoriously bad for the float inside becoming saturated and giving incorrect warnings as it sinks low in bottle setting off the warning sensor .If your level when you check is ok I would replace the expansion tank.I had intermittent low level light coming on got new tank about £30.00 and fitted myself.A tip if you do it your self whatever side your expansion tank is on remove the front grill and the headlight on the same side makes it easier to disconnect pipes about 45 mins and you should be done . Thumbs Up

Thank you. I'll give it a try....but I'll go via my local mechanic as I could never do this myself.

Yep coolant tank often responsible, quick and cheap fix.

Intake manifolds are like consumables for me. Cheap rubbish desighn but an expensive pain to fix. Had 3 replaced in course of 80k miles

Thanks again.

It wasn't so cheap for me. My mechanic charged me €200 for the tank. It was original LR part, but that's still a lot.

At least it's hopefully resolved now.

Thanks for all your help.....
