Hi I don’t think they are connected but the coolant tanks are notoriously bad for the float inside becoming saturated and giving incorrect warnings as it sinks low in bottle setting off the warning sensor .If your level when you check is ok I would replace the expansion tank.I had intermittent low level light coming on got new tank about £30.00 and fitted myself.A tip if you do it your self whatever side your expansion tank is on remove the front grill and the headlight on the same side makes it easier to disconnect pipes about 45 mins and you should be done . |

Yep coolant tank often responsible, quick and cheap fix.
