Help

Hi,

i have a 2012 range rover sport HSE sdv6. When accelerating it sounds like i can hear an air leak sound from under the bonnet after about 1300rpm and goes at around 2500rpm which suggests a boost leak however no loss of power. seems to be louder when i accelerate hard. when im gentle on throttle doesnt seem to be as loud. Any ideas where to look? Or anyone else had this?

Thanks in advance Matt

Hi

karlos01 thanks for your reply if it was manifold gasket would it not be constant rather than easing off at higher RPM

Thanks

Hi Willis
My opinion from (same?) experience
Two issues. the first and most important is the broken intake manifold ; that's sure
Second, more subtle, due to the fact that it's very difficult (impossible) for this failure, so evident to ear , does not exploit an anomaly of recovery mode. This suggests a mod to the ECU (rechip) . A common way which is done to overcome resticted performance mode eg recovery mode.

Good luck

Alex

Hi Alex

I looked at them lastnight it looks like passenger side has a new manifold but drivers side is an old one so might look at changing that as a matter of cause. A company i used to work for have an ultra sonic leak detector so might look over manifold see if i can pick up air movement / leak.

Thanks
