much difference ??

Hi, I've been offered a set of winter tyres at 265 45 20, the current tyre size are 275 40 20, would there be an issue with minor size change? These are for my "winter" wheels so only in use for approx 4-5 months a year.
Thanks

I run 275/45/20’s on both my summer and winter tyres to combat the poor road conditions up here and save on punctures. And so far so good. Also a bit quieter.

The 265/45/20 should be fine, and may actually improve grip in snow due to their narrower size, but the narrower tyre may not be suitable for the width of the actual wheel - best check on tyresizecalculator.com or similar. Previously owned 1999 Disco 2 TD5

Gone 2007 TDV8 RRS1 in Buckingham Blue.

How do know if the knocking at the front has been sorted?

You can hear the knocking at the rear better

Hi,

round figures there 10mm narrower on the width and +9mm on the side wall
and the standard size of 255/50/19 fits in between them both for the radius,
just 4.5mm less than what your thinking of,
I ran 255/55/19 which are another +5mm on the radius of what your thinking and had no issues
(other than the speedo then reads nearer true speed Rolling Eyes )
