New battery? And if so, which one!

I have been suffering from a battery drain recently. I had thought this may be linked to my BAS supplied FBH remote system. Or the loose positive terminal?

So whilst working on the car today I plugged in my IIDBT tool and the following faults were identified;-

U0073-88 (2C) Control module communication bus off - Bus signal/message failure - bus is off

It suggests to me, despite it seeming to be okay, to be the battery that’s at fault? I currently have a Bosch 95Ah 800a battery fitted.

I am looking at a Bosch S5 110Ah as a replacement- what are your thoughts?

Ps all the faults cleared and have stayed off so far , fingers crossed Thumbs Up

The battery is 3 years old, and the car is a 2097 TDV8 without stop-start. Previously owned 1999 Disco 2 TD5
Disco 3 HSE TDV6 2007
Gone 2007 TDV8 RRS1 in Buckingham Blue.

How do know if the knocking at the front has been sorted?

You can hear the knocking at the rear better

The battery drain might be the rear glass hatch switch. They are a known corrosion issue. Easy enough to replace too, which is good news.

Unless you can track the battery drain issue down, replacing the battery won't really help - the new one will also be subjected to draining.

Have you checked the alternator output with the engine running? If that's not fully healthy, the battery will struggle over time too. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Re: New battery? And if so, which one!

RR - The Alternator has been tested and seems healthy. But it could be the rear tailgate as the new number plate lights that I fitted recently have already started to suffer. Looks like water may be in there somewhere Big Cry

And thats how I will be spending my day Censored

Thanks pal

M.

Loose positive battery clamp will show similar faults.
