Facelift L494 Bumper Fitting to 2014 5.0 S/C - Exhaust Mod??

Hi Everyone.

I have purchased a 2019 Facelift Rear bumper fit to my 2014 5.0 S/C.

I have to modify my existing exhaust as it clashes with the bumper static 'exhaust tips' on the new bumper.

Has anyone done this previously and if so can they advise how much to cut off / How to modify? My feeling is to cut the exhaust just before the 'double' skin part of the tail pipe - about 10mm out from the exhaust hanger. But this maybe too short (Although the fumes will still obviously exhaust).

Also the exhaust hanger 'Diamond' rubbers clashes with the new bumper tip steelwork. Source straight rubbers or fettle the steelwork?

Images attached.

Any experienced advice welcome!

James

I’ve done the same mod & you need to cut the tail pipe off.

Thank you 'Tyre Fitter'.

Can you tell me where you cut the tail pipe and does the 'stump' still protrude inside the New Tip metalwork?

I think your exhaust may also be a smaller Diameter? What car do you have?

Also how did you get over the Exhaust Mounting Rubber Clash with the Tip metalwork issue?

Regards,

James

Great thanks again.

Did you have a problem with the Exhaust mounting Rubber clashing with the bumper exhaust metalwork?

Regards,

James

Nothing was catching on mine, you could always bend the bracket so it doesn’t catch. Andy.

Thanks Tyrefitter.

It's the 'tube' part of the steelwork that clashes with the exhaust rubber (Image attached)

I'll tin snip a tab out of it.

Thanks again

James

Hi again all.

Just to let you all know if you are following this thread that for a 5.0 Car the Exhaust tips on the New Facelift bumper have to be modified so that the 'Cut off' Exhaust (larger Diameter than the 3.0 Diesel) lines up with the tips 'inners'. The Tip metal work has to be manipulated / bashed lower to touch the outer otherwise the exhaust itself will blow between the inner and outer of the tip. Once I manipulated the inner I riveted it to the outer. Images attached.

Also on the 5.0 S/C the Diamond exhaust rubber does class with the Tip Metalwork. The tips cannot be modified / fettled as the the clash is where one of the brackets is welded. I had to fit an after market exhaust rubber.

As the new Bumper has 6 parking sensors (The old bumper has 4) I swapped over the sensor wiring loom and just connected the 4 inner sensors to the old loom. Trouble is the parking sensors are now showing a fault. Does anyone know if the 'Facelift' sensors have a different resistance / set up etc? I may have to strip the bumper and swap over the actual sensors.
