So, I've got a couple of child seats in the back of the RRS.
More often than not now, the belt locks up halfway through getting it clicked in, and wont pull out any further. What's more annoying is it has to be retracted all the way to the start before being able to be pulled again, which requires me to remove the car seat each time so that the belt can fully retract.
Anybody had this issue?

I think the belts are too cleaver for their own good, having a memory.

If you slowly pull them all the way out, and then run them back in, in should reset them.

Use one of these plastic clip thingys for sealing food bags to stop it retracting when you pull it fully out. It will keep it in place while you thread it through the child seats.
Doesn't damage the belt and prevents fury also. RRS HSE Dynamic SDV6 2014

It's a design feature and covered in the owner's manual although it sounds like yours is working in reverse:

Perhaps it's not retracting quite far enough to release the locking mechanism? 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Mine are like that - they are stuck in 'large item mode'.. I've never been able to get them to return to normal operation :/ 2014 BMW 530d Touring, 2006 BMW 650i, 2018 Mini Cooper S

i have a similar issue with mine, though mostly the center seat. When I drop the rear seat back to load a big item and put it back up again, the mechanism locks and goes bar taut, and I can't feed it back to unlock it.
I have resorted to leaving it permanently done up, then undo it, when moving the seats. Sometimes the "simple is beautiful" philosophy is lost on manufacturers.

Can this be turned off? This large item setting on the Belts. . . Its doing my head in. It locks up when kids try to betl up all the time. Since theres a car seat in for the kids, the belt has to come out all the way, and if they let a little back in, it starts that stupid 'clicking' for large item mode.
