Took the opportunity to look underneath and seems pretty clean.
One question though, there's what appears to be a flange on the back for what I presume is a tow bar although there are no electrics

Yep, all L320 RRS (<2013) have the hitch receiver in the rear crossmember from the factory - there should be a red plastic dust cover but they seem to be almost universally missing (they're a fiver to replace but are a pain to get in properly and I'm guessing they fall out a lot!).

Just add electrics (inexpensive) and, if you don't have it, the hitch (expensive).

The same is not true of the L494 (2013+) where the rear crossmember is different. 2014 BMW 530d Touring, 2006 BMW 650i, 2018 Mini Cooper S
