United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Orkney Grey

I can't explain why they grip better on ice other than the softer compound, but of course they don't grip anything like a studded tyre (which we don't get over here at all)

The better grip on ice is due to the sipes - the small slits all over the tread blocks. These present a massive number of biting edges which grip the surface. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

New Zealand 2013 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Autobiography Santorini Black

Operating temperature has a lot to do with it as well, most tyre manufactures recon below 7 degrees and summer tyre compound becomes harder so less grip.

Dusted off the Goodyear Ultragrip shod wheels last week for my TDV8. I know they are on D3 wheels (which clear the Brembo 6 pots), but I think 255/55/19 is the best size and allows for dropping the pressure from the usual 2.3/2.5 bar to 1.9/2.1 in trickier conditions and still have some bouncy tyre wall to ride over kerbs and kids on sleds.

We didn't have much snow last year, but they are they work really well in all winter conditions Thumbs Up Joe

United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Zermatt Silver

Just bought a set of Bridgestone Blizzak LM005 to replace my old Vreidestein Quadratrack Pro's. Supposedly, A rated for rain as well as good snow + ice tyres. Anyone have any experience of them? Cheers,

Stuart.
