Hi all, I bought my 2010 RRS HSE on 19/07/2021 from a dealer and pretty much had a few issues with the car from the get go, first issue was that the car would go into limp mode every time i set the cruise control, secondly was the dreaded bonnet catch fault and alarm going off every 5 minutes because of this, also was a horrible squeaking coming from the left front wheel.

Have a look at the Consumer Rights Act 2015;

Thanks for your response, the only thing i will say is that, the "warranty" was verbal so i have nothing in writing saying that it would be a 3 month warranty, although i do have messages in our conversation talking about the 3 month warranty.

Starting to feel that way, just spoke to him and he said all he can do is give a discount on the labour if i pay for the parts, even offered to source second hand parts but i refused saying that defeats the object, although he did stutter a little when i mentioned the Consumer rights act 2015 and said there was no need to go down that road, so maybe i may have a case, like i said have proof that the fault was reported within the 3 month ""warranty"" period. |

You need to use the rights you have to get the work done. His response to you mentioning the Act shows that he knows he hasn't got a leg to stand on. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Thanks for the response, i dont think Im going to win here, looking at the consumer act 2015 he said that up to 30 days i could of returned vehicle but within the 6 month period is down to his discretion and hes not willing to repair car unless i pay for parts, he says that when he sold it to me it had gone through MOT with no sign of leak hence he sold me a car fit for purpose and the leak even in the 30 day spoken warranty period was not his problem. So the burden would be on me to prove that car wasn't fit for purpose at time of sale which it wasn't because of other faults that he did go on to fix, but not the leaky roll bar which started leaking around 2 and a half months after i bought car.

If you have to pay to get it fixed, go to a specialist LR indie. At least then it's likely to get sorted correctly. His suggestion of using second hand parts tells me he's likely to do a "get it out of the door" job. If price is an issue, you can buy OEM anti roll bars for half the price of one in a LR box. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Tell him in writing you are giving him the option to fix it within the next 30 days then you will take it to a lr indie and the final bill will be filed as a claim through the small claims court, you then fill in the claim online with your local court and they send him a written notification to attend court which will cost him more in his time and he knows he would loose meaning he has to pay All the lr indie fees plus your court fee and all his time wasted when he could have got his mechanic to do it at half the cost of the Indie. Thats what i would do and im sure he will offer to fix it but if not atleast you can trust the Indie now going back to them i would have a trust issue anyway now. Thats my advice. |

Thanks for the advice, think its best if I go and speak to him again, price not an issue so i will always fit genuine parts so just wanted to know my options before i went to an indie and got it done myself as not really happy in giving it to him to repair if i have to pay for it, maybe ill give him the option to go half on a repair using genuine parts at an indie and see what he says, ive been quoted £1060 all in from Maltings in Doncaster and from what i can tell they are pretty good at what they do. |

Have you got any legal protection/advice on your house insurance, or union or professional body? If you do it's got to be worth a phone call to see exactly where you stand. If it's favourable, you have the option of paying for it yourself and claiming the cost back through the small claims courts which won't cost you the earth.
