Just for reference I have had one of these fitted in my L494 2014 Dynamic for 12 months and not a single issue. Is yours the android 9.0 version or the earlier version 7? Did you buy from Canavie or from Merryway (the manufacturer)?

Have you made sure (if the later version) you have the screen configured correctly (dual view, capacitive etc)?

I can honestly say that it's the single best mod I have ever done, light years ahead of the OEM infotainment system.

I'm sure they are all made by Merryway, I see that the one you link to is now Android 10, I saw a review and it's supposed to load a bit faster than the Android 9 versions but otherwise the same.

Yep, I'm also on that forum.

I would have done this mod ages ago, but what's been putting me off is the removal of the electronic boards from the OEM unit.

If something goes wrong, I am f*****, and then will need to buy a new OEM unit. --

Nothing hard about it, just take your time with the new display ribbon cable as it has to have a twist in it. They do provide a spare in with the kit just in case. The OEM PCB's just lift out and push back in to sockets with self locate so you can't really cock that up.

i did this route as i didnt want to pull the head unit about to much this is the next best thing and works really well

you lose factory Nav but that no biggy the res just all works as normal and then you have all the carplay apps If a jobs worth doing, get a someone who knows what they are doing to do it!

When you have fitted the new 10.25 unit - has it improved your DAB reception - I have a couple of areas around Devon where signal is poor in LR (was OK in BMW 5series) ?? L494 2014 Chillie Red & Black Roof, black pack

Installed aftershock android 10..........excellent bit of kit ,i use autokit and its faultless,i still have all original features but never use them....as my iphone has unlimited data i use the TuneinRadio app that shows on carplay screen for my DAB....perfect. I installed the microphone from the unit which is only needed for siri and apps...(itunes,waze,maps,whattsapp,messenger,phonecalls etc) carplay handles phonecalls and uses the car speaker system perfectly. Had to adjust car eq and also android eq to bring meridian back to best levels...but there is no deterioration in sound and dolby/dts work as they did.
No need for the android speaker or,in my case, the 4g dongle connector for android either.
I also dont use the supplied GPS antenna...i use the original car GPS with a splitter lead keeping the original car connection but also feeding the android.
