I thought the tops of my headlights are deteriorating so today I’ve had a proper look. On both sides they are failing on the inside at the tops of each light face. I’ve noticed the clips at the top, hence the question. 2006 2.7 TDV6 HSE in Cairns Blue.

The simple answer is no for the early lights, you can the lenses for facelift.

I also thought mine were fading on the inside but no I bit the bullet and sanded and polished mine and they’ve come up alright, still need a bit of work but better.




Still a bit of crazing in the sunlight but the grey fading has gone, apparently it’s the UV coating which is damaged and needs sanding off then polish the plastic then keep coating with a UV protectant. Steve

If I’m honest I had a go today with my micro mesh kit. Results were ok but not brilliant, best described as patchy. So I might bite the bullet and get one of these headlight restoration kits....... 2006 2.7 TDV6 HSE in Cairns Blue.

The polycarbonate lens can be removed using a heat gun but you cannot buy replacements individually. 07MY RRS TDV6

Tried with a kit, not happy with result.
After a search reading about options, new lenses impossible to find, sanded it all again and result was a white haze, then sprayed with uv resistant synthetic laquer - nearly 100% happy.

Due to a couple of scratches, I wet sanded my L320 ones with wet and dry paper working up through the grades to 2000 grit, then polishing compound afterwards, followed by a coating of Autoglym liquid hardwax. They came out absolutely perfect and didn't degrade over the next 12 months before I sold the car.

Cost would have been under a tenner a few hours beavering away in the shed. Kev

Replacement lenses for the L320 headlamp are something Powerful UK are working on developing but dont have a date for availability yet

If more people ask the question they might realise there is demand for them and speed up the development  TDV8 now with extra grin factor thanks to Alive Tunning: Gone but not forgotten

I have some facelift headlights bi xenon active cornering ones plus the rear clusters if anyone is looking for any as I have no use for them anymore. They are in good nick if anyone wants to upgrade their headlights…

Unfortunately the Facelift headlamps will not fit the Pre-Facelift without changing the front wings/bumper etc. as well.
