Upgrade to push-button seat controls

Hello everyone,

Spent the last hour upgrading the front climate control panel to one which has built-in seat controls.

It's a bit of a PITA process, as this requires removing the back of the centre console to be able to remove the silver trim pieces that run along the centre console, but otherwise a pretty simple exercise.

Old part number: DPLA-18A802-BG
New part number: GPLA-18A802-DH

Very happy with the results, considering this was a 2nd hand item bought off eBay and cost me £40 (https://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/ek_autoparts)

A minor, but nice, upgrade on 2013-2015 models. 😎

Naks,

I have just tried to do this upgrade on my MY2014 and I cannot get the heated seats to work via the knobs and they will not now work using the screen.

Did you have to do anything else to make yours work. Also, what year is your vehicle as I am thinking mine might be to old for the change.

Thank you "Every Day is a School Day"

Ah, crap, sorry to hear that boet. Crying or Very sad

Probably the software cannot make sense of the new buttons? Mine's a 2015 model, so maybe your software is a bit older than mine?

I hope you were testing before putting everything back together?

Mine also does one funny thing, that I only noticed last week: the SYNC function only works on AUTO and if I change any setting, SYNC stops working. When I checked the faults, there is a software mismatch thrown up for the controls. --

Mine was a straight swap over GPLA-18A802-DD came out and GPLA-18A802-DH went in, there is normally a build date on the Sticker on the unit (has a QR code on it) it will tell you the day month and year of the build mine was 24/08/16 and came from a 2016 car and went into a 2014

They only work when the engine is running I tested last night. the panel will light up but it will only activate the heated/cooled seats function on the panel dials or in the Climate menu if the engine is on otherwise its locked out I guess so it doesnt drain the battery (I think the cooling parts of the seats are separate unit from the main AC).

Hope this helps If a jobs worth doing, get a someone who knows what they are doing to do it!

Naks,

I was premature with my negative vibes.

As pjbracer1 advised, all was working once I had started the engine

So far, so good and it seems to be a great upgrade "Every Day is a School Day"

Car went in for its annual service, and they did a software update on the HVAC system, but the Sync function still refuses to work.

I think its because the LR software cannot flash the correct version of the HVAC controls as it's VIN-dependent, and there is no way to force an update from the facelift model to the pre-facelift model

I am contacting Gap to see if they can help.

Will update this thread with any info. --

Hello, did you find a fix for the software mismatch?

Cheers

^ No, it's still there, despite my indie's best efforts to try and upload later software to the unit.
