First 3000 miles.

I Bought a 16 month old 3 litre HSE Dynamic on 31st March. it only had 7;600 miles on it and all the toys i wanted.

sliding sunroof, heated seats and steering, dynamic, 21 inch wheels; folding mirrors and cameras.

have put 3;000 miles on it with separate drives (from Glasgow) to Cambridge; Worcester, Inverness, Troon and Prestwick and now typing this wee ramble from the very top West corner on the island of Skye.

I have to say - the car is fantastic and perfectly suited to being hurled along twisty A roads. The dynamic button makes quite a difference and my previous 2 Touareg would have given a lot less confidence around bends.

if anyone wants to test their RR bus i recommend the A85 from Dalwhinnie Distillery to Kyle of Lochalsh. i am sure the 7 hour return trip via Glencoe will be just as enjoyable.

things i like

Poise
high seating
very comfy seats
power
sliding sunroof

things i am struggling with

Sat nav is not great and text is too small to read (need to see wider context and further along road)
general lack of cubbies and nowhere for sunglasses.
gesture tailgate (works sometimes) but was a surprise anyway as salesman said it wasn’t fitted - found it with power washer.
boot lid is low for me at 6 foot 2 - have to use button to lift rear of. car up

All in - loving LR life and this car makes my long business trips enjoyable.

Hi there,
Have lost count of the number of times I have banged my head on the raised boot lid whilst getting my dogs out. God it, hurts! Love my HSE dynamic. Absolutely glorious to drive and a pension well spent 😁

Great to hear a good news story about someone enjoying their RRS. Thumbs Up

They do much better if they're driven rather than just doing short journeys, sitting in city traffic, etc. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Agreed - nice to see some positive news for a change. Just had mine serviced at Beadles Watford - 31k miles, 6 years old and car still bringa a smile to my face.

My MY2017 has a a very discreet tray in the front doors, easy to miss, adjacent to the door opener, accessed by opening the cover inwards. Bit hard to articulate. Perfect for glasses. Does yours not have this?

Yes thanks for that. It is fully open to max, but thanks for the thought. It’s the closing catch that hangs down that gets me!

Just in case you hadn’t realised, the cup holders slide forward to reveal a large storage area.

Thanks cunny678.

I am sad and old enough to have read the full ( and very thick) manual.
I am using this well hidden and surprisingly deep cubby hole.

thanks for the heads up though.

my car was a late 2019 build and does not have the compartment in the door mentioned by MrM.

must have been deleted or was an option at one time.

still loving my big bus - makes every journey a bit special.

I need to check the doors on mine as I didn’t know there was additional storage there Laughing

There is a thread on the Disco3 site where someone did a mod using a Ford Focus sunglasses holder replacing the drivers grabhandle. I'm not sure it would work on 494 though. I would post a link for you but I'm on my tablet and have no idea how to do that.

Love the car but.......

I also just turned 3000 miles on the clock. I love the car, I love the engine, love how it drives, how I sit on the road and I still have a smile when I drive.

However, ICTP and phone is woeful! Driving using hands free - people get feedback on calls. I experienced ICTP with a Jag XF a few years ago, but assumed the problems had been ironed out. I have come from a BMW which was far far better. The screen is laggy, slow to respond, you touch some controls and it moves oh so slowly, the apple car play (despite having an apple lead) just swops every second between car play and LR display and as for today - the screen when I got in, just was as per pics . The only why I could fix was to get out, lock the car, unlock and then it was sorted!

so over all, the new 3.0 engine is great - went on a long run and got low 40mpg which is great as I didnt drive slowly. The car handles well and I cant see me going back, but I wish the electronics were just better!.........
