Pancaked Battery

Went to Ireland for a week, leaving the RRS guarding the fort. Came back and the battery was flat flat flat - not a glimmer not a joule of juice. I know what it was, I mislaid my sunglasses before I left and I checked the RRS just in case. Sometimes, when I open the car the SatNav display comes on and doesn't go off when I exit/lock the car, without turning the ignition on/off. This time I'd forgotten as under a bit of pressure, so obviously it flattened the battery over the time I was away.

I gained access through the passenger side and connected up my Ctek and it immediately started clunking sounds - it was the alarm going off - or attempting to. Left it an hour and no change, so jump started the car & left it for a while. What are we, 5 hours later and the charge indicator has just gone to 3 dots...

I really hope the battery is not foofed as its only a couple of years old and had been perfect up until now. Leaving it charging overnight and see what happens.

If it’s a Silver Calcium it will be toast, anything below 80% charge will kill one. I’ve had a duff brand new battery because it had been sat on the shelf for god knows how long. If it’s got silver in it’s title somewhere it will be Silver Cslcium. 2019 5.0 SC SVA (Current)

It’s a Calcium battery.

If you start having issues, soft starting, dies after a few days of standing etc. Then I’d not even think about it and just buy a new one. Since I’ve fitted an AGM to mine, I’ve not had an issue since. That’s 3 new calcium batteries in 2019/20 and the AGM has been on since early 2020, so far zero issues and what’s better, the stereo doesn’t give me that ……will turn off in 3 minutes message until it’s been on for 25 minutes with ignition off.

OMG Andy! Bow down

My [complicated] other half [/complicated] tried to FaceTime me today and I couldn't hear her. She muttered something about being connected to her Landrover. Once I got her to actually listen to what I was saying, I worked out that she was connected to her RRS, so I told her to disconnect the BT connection. I then asked if she'd opened her car recently and she had, so I said go out and check to see if the SatNav was on, so we FT'd out there and it was, so then told her to press the Volume button twice and it went off!

Obviously I'm now an IT guru but its all thanks to you Thumbs Up
