Thats half the problem,, not too many places,, dealers being the worst, have the facility to carry out a gearbox flush which requires a special machine. 2010 RRS, TDV8

Well had my first viewing on a RRS today.. First glance it was clean on the outside for an 09 plate with 80k miles. However speaking with the lad at the garage there was no service history it had been lost by the previous owner which is a friend but its definitely been serviced bla bla... looking in the booklet there was a receipt for a cambelt so I asked if both were changed he said no just the front belt as the back one never needs to be changed. Also said it had both turbos reconditioned but no proof. Safe to say I didn't even bother test driving it... on to find another one |

Shame. If its a dealer history you can get it online with the VIN |

There was the odd receipts but none were dealer garages. The air con wasn't working so I asked if I went ahead and bought it would this be fixed and the lad said oh I would have to speak with the boss but I highly doubt it. |

If.they are not willing to fix step away...service history can be obtained from dealer but would only include services done by dealer.

To be honest I don't think the lad had any knowledge on these.. I asked about the gearbox and if it had been serviced he said they don't need it as they are a sealed unit,

Well done for walking away. There are plenty out there so take your time and find the best you can. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders 2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed |

My thought would be that buying from auction might save you some money but it loses you the protection of buying from a trader. Buy from a trader and he carries the can for issues you find early in your ownership. Buying from an auction is no better than buying from a bloke on the street. I guess it's a toss up or risk vs cash savings. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

thanks Ash, appreciate the offer but having bought from an auction before and being stung im reluctant to do it again. as RRSTVD8 says from a trader you get a little piece of mind if anything is to go wrong |
