The end of the arm has a "U" shaped hook that the blade fits onto. To remove it you don't have to lift it too far off the screen (from memory there is a small tang on the blade that you have to press in/flick out; not sure which) and pull the blade back towards the spindle. The arms do benefit from a little lubrication at the hinge close to the spindle to keep them free.

Just change the whole arm and blade for a newer modern plastic one, Can get a arm and blade from ebay for less than £15 and it looks alot better and more modern that the agricultural metal one. they actually have a better spring too so a better wipe, and much lighter, every gram on this beast counts lol. |

I don't think it matters where the wiper is. I think maybe changing the whole thing is going to be easier, trued everything, can't get the bloody thing off! If a man speaks in the forest and there's no woman to hear, is he still wrong? |

Hi I had problems with mine I ended up using a small puller tool on the arm to remove it all together and then replaced the blade. |

I just replaced mine too actually - it's a bit fiddly but you can just press the tab down and slide it out when it plays ball.
