Pioneer are the best.

Josh,

For TV's I agree, however have you had chance to play with the new Pana PH9 at all? Extremely good colour contrasts and overall IMO matches the Pioneer - plus its cheaper

These things are all OK - but the underlying factor is your signal/input.

You all get carried away [ me included ] at the sharpness & quality of a picture in the shop or from reviews - but they are all using HD broadcasts or material recorded in HD - most of us are unable to receive HD over air and not much material is available in HD format either! So you can overspend on technology that you probably wont see the benefit of for quite some time....... plus by the time your receiving HD pictures over air there will be better TV's available then .....

My advice - check out the pictures on normal FREEVIEW reception of several units & then look at the aesthetics of the TV overall/price = then choose the combination that ticks most boxes Confused

You pay for what you get. Too cheap could be painful. Phillips apparently are not up to the job. TDV6 - gone
TDV8 - gone

Their latest LCD is apparently one of the very best out there - reviewd & approved by all. Can't remember the model number - but i have viewed it - awsome picture when fed HD ..... worth a look if you want to run HD through it Confused
