I've just spent (wasted) a day doing this, and although I could have saved up to £90 on a comparison website with a company I've never heard of the likes of AXA, Privilage, the AA etc, whilst cheaper didn't offer the same level of cover I have currently. You have to read the small print to learn that specifically they don't offer 3rd party cover on a car not owned by you. The reason I want this is in case I have to drive my lads car. It's not a common occurrence, but recently he's had spinal surgery and I needed to move his car for him. As always, make sure you read the small print.

I had an unsolicited email from LV inviting me to get a quote. Clean licence, no claims in last 5 years, max NCD. They took me right through the process and when I pressed “Get Quote” it came up - “We don’t insure your type of car.” I won’t print what I called them for wasting my time. |

I think LV have recently decided to knock Range Rovers on the head. They've sent me an email saying i have 60 days to add a new car to my policy after my write off or i loose it with no refund and they won't be able to renew the cover. L494 3.0L SDV6 Autobiography in Chile Red (Current)

Being a driving instructor I insure my 2019 seat Leon 1.6 diesel with Adrian flux so I thought that I would get a great deal having second car insured with them (7 years no claims and 55 yrs old) Leon costs £800 being a learner car. Quote with them for 2011 RRS 3.0 tdv6 HSE . Was £1,500. Just doesn’t add up really.

Hi, try the Meercat ( compare the market) and NFU mutual via your local office. You will be sorted with them. AXA and the AA came out very good but there is a bit of a postcode lottery. |

Couple of things to note with this, some insurers generally require a tracker when value goes over a certain threshold for example £40k (this can vary on insurer but can also vary on postcode as some higher theft areas will require a tracker at a lower value). Where it's kept will also influence in some areas e.g garaged, driveway, parked on the road. And finally... the RRsport has been the most stolen car for 2 years running (and been in the top 10 for at least 4) so the risk factor has increased on them and a tracker does help to recover them should the worst happen. Hope this shows some insight - but if you want to read more there's quite a few articles online if you just search "most stolen cars UK" on google. I feel your pain as I have an X5 which is also a top 10 regular! Carlie The UK's most stolen cars are: Range Rover Sport. Range Rover Vogue. Range Rover Autobiography. BMW X5. Land Rover Discovery and BMW 3 Series. Mercedes-Benz C-Class. Range Rover Evoque. Mercedes-Benz C-Class AMG. Land Rover Defender, Mercedes-Benz E-Class and BMW 6 Series A-Plan Insurance | Specialist Vehicle Call us on 01635 874646 for a quotation Click Here |

I had exactly the same when I bought my 2010 RRS, my then insurer insisted on a tracker for theft cover which I had installed the day after I got it home (I have 6' gates on my drive and I boxed it in with the wife's car and the smelly dog van). Every insurer I have looked at since have not been interested if I have a tracker or not, currently with SAGA, because I'm old. Frankly, I doubt that a professional car thief would have any difficulty in locating the tracker (they seem to put them in the same place apparently) and rip it out. I paid for the lifetime (that you own the car) monitoring fee so it's not an additional annual cost. |

We’ve just had our renewal come through with Admiral multicover and it’s gone up by £3 total for my car, my wife’s SAAB and house insurance. 2006 2.7 TDV6 HSE in Cairns Blue. |
