Tailgate doesnt Lock

[b]Tailgate will not lock Top glass piece is open and closes but does not click to lock.
Bottom tail gate is locked and wont open button just pushes in.
Key fob does nothing with tailgate but opens closes central locking. Any ideas welcome Cheers.[/b]

Mine does this occasionally.
I think it’s the glass latch.

I press the open button again to exercise the latch and then I can close it.

Buttons do nothing fob does nothing glass top closes but lock does not engage?

Faulty latch on the lower half I guess.

You could try hitting it, if you get under the plastic cover.
Wd40 it. So it springs back

If I've got it right, the bottom tailgate will not open when the top half is open. There's a trick you can do by using the shaft of a screwdriver to trip the top tailgate's latch (which is on the top ot the bottom tailgate) as per the PowerfulUK video. Then you can open the bottom tailgate as well, which you will need to do in order to remove the trim without breaking things.

It does sound like your problem lies in the top tailgate latch mechanism. I would suggest replacing that.

Worth running a diagnostic fault check first, before spending money.
