okay, so just to close this off incase anyone else is in the same situation, there are multiple types of brackets, most brackets do require the undertrays cutting, including the OEM LR ones. In fact the undertrays are marked where the cuts need to be made.
However the Side Steps UK/JNK steps do not need the undertrays cutting (as stated above), the front bracket does fit to the original inboard threaded hole which is behind the undertray, however its designed to slip between the gap of tray and he floor hence no cutting required, you do need to loosen the tray to get the bolt in though. The rears have a clamp that fits in on the big round holes in the floor, this just claims on and doesn't interfere with the tray at all Smile

here are some pics for reference (apologies on the quality!):

Front mounting point

rear mounting point

rear bracket in situ

mounted front bracket, you can just about see the bracket disappearing under the undertray

and the finished article (car needs a wash!)

It’ll be interesting to see how the brackets fair. I’m sure the6 are fine, just don’t look as substantial as the others Joined the X5 45e club

they were pretty weighty, in fact i was surprised at just how much the whole setup weighs! certainly not gonna help with fuel economy, hopefully they'll last, it was one of the more expensive options on the market.

some of the guys have had them for a while further up the thread.  2020 Range Rover Sport P400e HSE Dynamic

So when fitting these Quicktread steps, are all the bolts accessible with no fouling from the undertrays or sills?

What’s the actual difference between these and all the others available for half the price, are these ones that easy to fit and better quality? Just about to buy some steps but it’s a minefield so could do with a few recommendations? Thumbs Up

I just bought one of the cheapest sets on eBay I think they were about £180 delivered. I don't have much car DIY knowledge but I managed to fit them in a day, they require some cutting away of the plastic covers that are restricting access to the bolts that are already drilled for them in the chassis. I didnt take any of cills off I just cut them away in situ with a jab saw, watching out for the fuel line hiding behind one of the ones at the rear.

for the Side Steps ones you have to loosen some of the screws to the undertrays to get at the inner bolt holes, you don't need to cut them, you just need to lever them down a bit to allow access.. once the bolts for the brackets are in they trays just screw back into the original position, its a bit fiddly but not a major issue... be much easier on a proper ramp.  2020 Range Rover Sport P400e HSE Dynamic

forgot to say, just the fronts need the trays pulling down, the rear brackets you don't need to move anything, you can see the two holes in the pics above... the 3rd bolt clamps the big circles you can see in the floor pan.  2020 Range Rover Sport P400e HSE Dynamic

Nano,

Great thread & they look really good, I’m 90% certain I’ll be ordering a HSE dynamic black edition P400e in the next few weeks on private contract hire, these type of steps are great as I have heard some leasing companies charge you if you send the car back with the steps still fitted or even if they are removed they charge you for replacement under trays as they have been cut, we all know they will go to the market like that but that does not stop them charging you for the cost of a new set. If I get the car this way I will be fitting a set of these & removing before it goes back. They look great all black aswell, some of the eBAy ones don’t look great with the silver strip along the side.

One other question does your car have run flats on it or are they standard tyres they expect you to repair temporary with the gel & compressor?

Cheers

Malc

yeah mines contract hire and that was my thought process too, plus i can just flog them at the end and get some of the money back Smile

yeah they are just standard tires and due to no spare you're taking a risk i suppose, i've never had to use gel on any car thankfully, but i've heard plenty of stories about it being pretty useless when you do need it! obviously with the battery pack theres no room for a spare, even a space saver  2020 Range Rover Sport P400e HSE Dynamic

Those undertray covers on your newer model Nano are different to the ones on the older shape. The 13-18 L494 haven't got those cut outs for the step brackets. Andy.

What weight are we talking for a set at £130, compared to a set at £400 because from what I’ve found so far, most are steel and heavy with only a few made of aluminium?? So which are the lightest set out there?

You need to cut the undertrays, you could always leave them on when you send it back,or just remove them as I cannot see the lease company or whoever you are getting it from going under the car to check it.

Ive had this done on my2014 and there were some parts of the under tray that required cutting to enable access to the mounting points.

The mounting points are for the bolt and these needed to be tapped (I believe later models may have the threads pre cut and be plugged to save dirt ingress)

The side steps butt up to the actual doors sill and the only thing that requires cutting is the tough plastic under tray which does have lines on them marking where to cut.

I dont know about the 2018+ models but I cant think that LR would change that as part of the design but I might be wrong, I guess if its on lease then you could just go for it but if there was an issue you would have to remove them and then purchase new undertrays to put right I guess. If a jobs worth doing, get a someone who knows what they are doing to do it!
