Connecting and charging IPhone

I’m trying to figure out the cleanest way to both charge and connect my iPhone for CarPlay at the same time. As I understand it, the phone needs to be connected via the USB in the centre armrest in order to use CarPlay? Does that charge it at the same time?
Also, where do people put their phone at that point? I’d quite like to have it out - ie not in the centre armrest, as if I put it inside I’m bound to leave it in the car by mistake Embarassed

iPhone X

Thanks in advance

Hi,

Yes it charges it at the same time and the battery status comes up on the infotainment screen ( top LH corner).

I store mine in the tray above the fridge/cool box so I can’t be tempted to touch it and get 6 points & £200 fine.

Hi,

The slot in the centre console is meant to mount the phone vertically, but the charging lead would be at the top and vulnerable.

It seems the choice is stowed and charging or visible and not charging! 😀

I also place mine in the tray on top of the fridge for carplay and charging, to address your concern I regularly return to my car later in the evening to recover my phone which I have forgotten to pick up. ------------------------------------------------------------------

Why is this even a question? Plug it in, charge and play. Hide it under the armrest. Or don't. Confused Ferrari F430 Spider F1
