Choice of number plates for RRS rear

Hi all, just wondered what peoples preference is for a replacement rear number plate for a 2012 RRS. I need to change over the plates on a new purchase so have a blank canvas. I dont want the larger oval one so its oversize or standard car size. Some of the new 3D and 4D plates are a bit too bling for me but on previous cars (non RR)i have used a manufactures/dealers surround front and back with pressed metal plates but not sure thats possible with the RRS. Whats your thoughts? Cheers Steve

the plate can be any size but the letters/numbers must be legal type and size and recognisable by anpr cameras otherwise plod will get you..

And have to be reflective. Not sure how you achieve that with pressed metal plates.

I thought pressed metal were only sold as "Show plates" and were illegal. Now

I’m on a standard size and looks prefect. The large oval just doesn’t look right on the rear.

Thanks for the reply - Yes, will def be fitting a UK Road legal plate. Im just wondering why owners dont revert back to a normal sized VRM plate upon changing them (personal plate changeover) instead of keeping with the RRs oversized yellow plates on the back of them. Seem large and an unsightly distraction from the lines of the vehicle..

Thanks for the reply - I thought they werent for the road but the rules changed a couple of years ago and now we can have them fitted to UK cars as well as the road legal 3D gel characters and 4D raised character ones. Having number plate surrounds secured to the car and then just popping a metal plate in/out is much simpler on change of ownership/plate than drilling new ones or having adhesive fail and losing one. The metal ones never de-laminate either.

Thanks for the reply - Ive seen theres some changes coming this year around banning the 3D and 4D plates but pressed plates are reported to be UK road legal - https://www.number1plates.com/plate-type/p...er-plates/

I was relying on this;
https://www.gov.uk/displaying-number-plates/rules-number-plates

It does say they can be 3D, and I guess that they can now do a pressed plate that is reflective. Every day is a school day Thumbs Up
I have no objection to pressed plates, they're not for me, but as long as it's legal it's personal choice Thumbs Up

Always go for the legal minimum.
The people that are interested in reading your number plate most certainly do not have your best interests in mind, only revenue. RRS HSE Dynamic SDV6 2014

I’ve gone for the shaped plate on the rear and got the UK and Union Flag stickers.
Just debating whether to screw them on or use stickers.
I have the stickers, the existing hole means the middle of the blue of the badge, so I’d need to get a blue screw cover.
Can’t put them on until I get the V5 and assign my reg to this one.

Drill new holes where you want them

It's aluminium, so nothing will rust
