2010 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 HSE Bourneville
RRS 3.0 TDV6 245HP '10 remap question

Hi guys, I have a question - my RRS is no slow by any means, but it could be faster. I've talked to a local tuner and he said that with a proper remap I can gain about 50hp and 100nm. The problem is that my mechanic states that the gearbox (6 gear ZF) is already at the maximum with 600nm and additional torque will kill it, sooner then later. Is he right? Can anyone with a remaped engine say what is his experience with a gearbox after some time after the tune? And how he feels about additional power? Thank you in advance.

I have a MY13 5.0L S/C and sure it is the same ZF 6HP28 6 speed box, had that remapped and a upgraded s/c pulley and according to the dyno it's chucking out 750Nm of torque and that hasn't blown to bit's yet and that was five years ago.

Cheers

The gearbox used with the Supercharged is not the same as the V6 diesel. The petrol version (also used with the TDV8) has additional planetary gears in the epicyclics to handle the extra grunt.

The ZF 6HPO28 used with the V6 diesels has a maximum torque of 600Nm (443lbft).

Of course, any component has an individual safety margin which might be more or less than the published factor but there's no way of knowing whether yours is near that margin or not. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Not quite what this extract from the workshop manual says, which may mean the reference to "uprated" being the planet and epicyclic gearing were "beefed up", no mention of the TDV8 ever using the HP28 either only the HP26. Perhaps the first of the facelift V6's used the HP26 as well, easy enough to check though just look at i.d plate on side of box, probably has it on the build spec. sheet as well. The HP28 is rated at 650Nm by ZF the 26 being 600Nm.

Sure there are plenty of guy's on the forum that have their 3.0L's remapped and don't recall reading any that have had transmission issues afterwards.
