Thanks for sharing the Ramp info. Do they cover the crank issue?

The £7k engine limit wouldn't cover a replacement 3.0 SDV6 unit would it?

No it wouldn't be from a main dealer - I have heard that they charge circa £12k.

Another update. I have had a quote from warranty direct who are owned by Ford protect I believe. The quote is £1350 with a £150 excess. I have had a quick look at terms and conditions and they seem to cover everything needed. The website link is https://www.myfordprotect.co.uk/

Cool just had a quote from this lot but this looks like engine cover is £5600 which whilst will help if there was a problem but depends on how much work is required.

Looks like the WD new site only works for exisiting holders, the company who bought them looks to be Software and Tech Co If a jobs worth doing, get a someone who knows what they are doing to do it!

Have finally gone with Ramp. Paid £799 for 12 months cover. I have in an email from them that the crank shaft is covered, maximum claim limit of vehicle value and no excess. Not the cheapest or most expensive quote but I’m happy with them I think. Hopefully I will never need them but a bit of piece of mind.

I am looking at warranties at the moment for my L320 SDV6. What a minefield!! I was looking at Motoreasy Plan B lite which seemed to cover the crank etc. I was tempted to go with that but after reading this I am really not sure now. I have never heard of RAMP but I would like to have a look at what they offer - Have you got the details of their website?

What a brain masher this is! Laughing Pete

I've looked at the Ramp website and it indicates that the maximum for engine repairs is £7k.

The £7000 shown in that link is an example price for an engine replacement I think. They told me in an email and on the phone that each claim can be up to the value of the vehicle (they valued mine at £40000, I wish it was worth that much) I hope I never have to use them for a claim but so far everything sounds good with them. Only time will tell

If you go on their website and use the contact page to ask for a quote for your vehicle they will email back with a quote or more questions.

Thanks! I will dig a bit deeper with RAMP as their site doesn't give much away. Having read some of the things on here about the value of Motoreasy's business I am a bit wary of going with them but they do have decent reviews from customers Confused Pete

My 2013 SDV6 is currently with my indie for a new drivers side front door lock. I contacted Motor easy, with whom I have the top cover, and they asked me to get a written diagnosis of the fault on workshop letter headed paper, plus a fully costed quote with separate VAT. Send it to them and they will consider the claim and nominate a garage to do the fix - from the 10,000 garages with whom they have a deal.
Foxtrot Oscar was my reply. It’s going to a Land Rover specialist - my Indie as I checked this on application and made sure labour rates were compatible . They also asked for proof of current MOT and last service, both of which they hold as I scanned both to them when I took out the policy and they are visible on my account page.
The lady I spoke to was very curt and said the email I got was a standard response. My response was “if you want my business then sharpen up.”
I was with WD for two years and had 2 claims, one for ARB bushes and the other for a fuel filter body, both claims dealt with quickly, courteously and paid in full.
When I contacted WD in December they told me they would not renew my policy so I went with ME, two weeks later they sent me a renewal notice!
I have the feeling my time with ME will be short, and I will update when I get a result

It shocking the lengths that they will go to in order to not pay out. I wouldn't mind guessing that if they decide the font on the workshop headed paper is wrong they wont pay!

I really don't understand why there is such a fuss about having your own workshop. If its a specialist in that vehicle and the labour rates are within tolerance then surely that's a good thing for everyone involved?! I mean there are garages on these 'approved' lists that I would trust my kids Lego with.

Good luck with sorting your lock out. I hope that ME wake up and smell the coffee! Pete
