Red 'alarm' imobiliser light under rear view mirror?

As a new l320 RRS owner I am just getting used to the car, having only owned it a day.

I came out this morning and started the vehicle, all the drive to work the red 'alarm' immobiliser light under rear view mirror was constantly on (not flashing) being just about light outside, this was quite bright.

Is this normal or a fault?

Does your mirror have what look like three switches in the bottom numbered 1, 2, and 3 of it as well ? if so I think it may have the "homelink" garage opener system mirror and the red led is possibly the remote transmitter led, the alarm led is in the instrument cluster just below the centre of rev counter needle, or at least it is on mine.

Cheers

Turns out it wasn't under the mirror at all, but an LED in the overhead reading light surround.

Looks like someone has fitted an aftermarket alarm system on it.
I've just covered the LED for now.

Thanks for your response.

On first reading the thread I was a bit confused as my RRS has the alarm/immobilizer LED on the dash - lower left near the hill decent and TC lights.

The very dull light (led) that shines down from the overhead console is to provide "moonlighting" at night for the centre console area around the gear lever.

There is meant to be a light to illuminate the gear selector.
It’s white in early models.

It's called "waterfall lighting" on later car's, only ever realised it was there as noticed it shining on the back of my hand when adjusting the interior mirror, as it's quite hopeless probably find a lot of people don't even realise it's there.

Excellent thanks.
After looking at the specs of the car, it does indeed have 'Waterfall' lighting.
