Sorry if this is a daft question but when cleaning the interior this week-end I turned on the radio and after a relatively short time it switched itself off with an energy saving message.
I know my batteries are good (no issue with cold start or stop/start) so I'm wondering if there is a setting for how long the audio can be on with the engine off. I'm sure my last car (Volvo) was at least 30 minutes or so. I got 15mins or less.
I would have thought that the audio wouldn't be pulling a lot of power anyway.

I don't think you can change it.

Yes these cars are quite fussy trying to protect the battery

It has to run the Amp, LCD and keep the whole car network awake so probably using more than you think

Press the Red X on the display (bottom left) and it may last a few minutes more!

With keys out of the ignition I get about 5 minutes before the radio switches off (lock the car and it turns off immediately). Keys in the ignition it is about 15 minutes and with keys in the accessory position it stays on permanently. Times are guesstimates. 07MY RRS TDV6

I hook up a Ctek on supply mode via the towing electrics adaptor for exactly this function Visitor from fullfatrr.com

the radio may not take much but if you were cleaning the car did you have a door open

it does have 1 or 2 interior lights

My point was that of all the cars I've owned the RRS seems to have the shortest time for the radio to turn off without the engine running.
It also has the biggest battery, plus a decent sized stop-start battery as well.

It's not that the radio and interior lights take power, it's that every ECU in the car is awake and active. Add them up and you're looking at a decent current draw. Maybe other brands use a different EUC strategy meaning lower current draw.

There's also the question of how much juice you have in your battery. Lots of people seem to have low batteries because they don't get enough use and short journeys just cause a slow, long term drain. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Are you sure your battery is good, I had the same thing as you (less than 15 minutes sat in the car, doors closed and nothing except the radio on) so I got my mechanic to use his fancy battery tester, turns out only 5/8 of the cells in the battery were good but you'd never have known it from starting / running etc.

I haven't tried the same thing since replacing the battery so can't give a direct comparison

Just trying to work that figure out as thought 12v battery had 6 cells 2.1/2.2 volts per cell. but could be out of touch with modern technology I guess.
