Either that's because that's where it started, or because that's where the fuel tank is.
I seem to recall a number of Discovery 3's spontaneously combusted in the early years.

I would suggest the suspension warning light came on after whatever caused the fire...either melting wires or tyre /brake related...
Because they are aluminium shelled it doesn’t take much heat for the body to start melting...

Still sad....

I had a close encounter of a total burn down , when the DPF in my my former RRS 3.0 TDV6 started to catch fire destroying some wiring harness. The car was saved by quickly detaching the battery. RRS 3.0 SDV6 HSE Lux

LR 3 HSE V8 gone
DiscoveryII V8 Gone
