2015 RRS - any way to get larger MPH display?

Hi

I've got an April 2015 RRS and would like to be able to have a clearer speedometer.

The default instrument panel seems to be the digital representation of a traditional speedometer on the right, with a small NN mph number representation at the bottom of that dial.

Is there any way to get that NN mph display larger anywhere (eg. in the center of the instrument panel where the Land Rover logo is)?

Have attached screenshot (excuse the flash from camera) to show what I mean.

Any clues on how or if you can get a bigger number display of current speed gratefully received.

Thanks

Not that I have seen.

But here is a link to owners manual which gives info on different aspects.

I might be possible using the gap Tool as you can change the intrument panel skin design, there are quite a few so it would just be a matter of selecting on and trying it I guess, (only downside it the starting and restarting of the car when changing the CCF files. (Sorry if this sounds jiberish to anyone who doesnt have the Gap diagnostic tool)

Yuo might find that maybe a USA dial layout might be possible of one from a JAG. I agree the digital speed numbers are a bit small, my merc had large numbers exactly where you suggested, I dont think the LR skins will use that portion fo the screen as it also used for the menu screen which can be used whilst driving.

I fitted an after market HUD thats display the speed on the window screen which works pretty well, might be a simple option for you.

Next time Im playing ill try a couple of different layouts, unless anyone has a skin design layout list? If a jobs worth doing, get a someone who knows what they are doing to do it!

I haven't seen this option in my Gap tool - is that something special you have to order from them? --

No I dont think so you have to load int he CCF files and i think its called skin design or layout, Ill take a screenshot and post back a bit later as im fitting something to the car a bit later on.

IT might be that its only avaialbe in the tool if the full list of ccf files is released (you just need to ask support at Gap) but obviously it goes without saying if you have the full list there is more potential damage to be done, as there are lots of options in th elist that also cover Jaguars and the battle is knowing what they are half the time.

Ill post back a bit later If a jobs worth doing, get a someone who knows what they are doing to do it!

That looks quite promising, I have no idea what the Gap tool or CCF files are but the fact there's something out there that might do the job gives some hope. That large mph display in the middle of the speedo would be a lot better.

Hadn't considered an aftermarket HUD to cater for that, another good idea - thanks,

I need to do some more research

Just had a try at this, but nothing in the CCF for the Instrument Pack (or anywhere else).

these are the only options in the IPC:

Looks like some of the recent updates may have changed some of the menu's

When I made the change back in Julyish it was in the complete untested list called

Instrument Skin Design and it had quite alot of different designs as in 01 02 03 04 etc.... but you didnt know what they were or if they worked until it was applied. I moved mine onto the sueprcharged display from the normal diesel Im assuming had the list still have that many in there the might have been so USA versions L405 versions SVR/SVO versions but I never tried them.

They seem to have disappeared from my list now, but upon further review I found that the list has changed and from the main menu there is now a (fuel gauge variant) which has a selection and mine is set to "supercharged perol" so it might be this now that changes it, there are also some other settings that appear to be realted to the guage layout.

Now this could be just cos I have a beta verison of the FW as I was testing key programming on L494 for GAP though, here is the list from the main menu of the things that look like guage stuff.

I guess it a matter of trying them out but its time consuming as you have to try one at a time then reboot so it takes its toll on the batteyr unless you stick it on charge. Also you it could be tricky to know if one change has an effect on another if you build up the change one after another so to speak.

I reckon you could try it though and see if changing to the Petrol changes the dash, however I dont think this will solve the OP issue that said I think he is going to try the HUD route as its cheaper and simpler as without the GAP tool If a jobs worth doing, get a someone who knows what they are doing to do it!

My Gap tool is also on the Beta version, but that Fuel Gauge CCF is not there either.

that could be related to the size, as the diesels and the SCV8 have different sized tanks? --

Maybe, has your device been given access to the full CCF file list? Mine has as I needed it to enable a couple of things to play around with key programming mine is veriosn 3.1.4 build 20 on the app and my buld is 2753

I didnt think it would be related to the car as I think the list is just the full list from the software as its for all cars even the Jags

Thats a weird one then are you looking in the complete untested list? If a jobs worth doing, get a someone who knows what they are doing to do it!

Not sure, I have the 'standard' Beta version that I updated via the IID app (Windows).

I basically go into Car Config > Complete List, and that's all I see.

I think you have a much different version to mine.

I'm going to email GAP to ask them for the full list, and go from there. --

yeah might be worth asking Pat if they have changed anything as there definitely was those 2 options for skin design and one of them had lots of design 01 and 02 and 03 etc.... I just set mine to design 2

Do you not get the Skin Design options in the first image I put up in the main list for complete list? If a jobs worth doing, get a someone who knows what they are doing to do it!

but nothing about skins, even when searching for them. --
