Dashboard rattle

I’ve had my brand new 3.0d HSE for 4 weeks and am loving it - it’s an amazing car. However it’s developed an annoying rattle over certain broken road surfaces / bumps which is very noticeable, especially if I don’t have the radio/music on. It seems to be coming from around the steering column / dashboard area and adjusting the steering wheel position doesn’t make any difference. I’ll be phoning the dealer tomorrow or Monday to get it in so they can have a look at it but I’d be interested to know if anyone has any ideas what it might be it where it could be coming from. I know many cars have rattles, but I’d hoped a £70k car might not be one of them...

Did this ever get resolved. My car is just over two years old and has developed a very annoying rattle from the instrument cluster area.

Hi, yes I did. It turned out to be part of the wiring loom that wasn’t needed on my car but which hadn’t been taped up correctly and so was rattling from around the steering column / instrument binnacle. The dealer had the car got a couple of days and eventually traced it and the car’s been fine (in that regard at least...!) ever since.

That's good to hear. I'll have to get my dealer to look at it when it's next in for a service.
