Yes the interiors are almost the same the steering wheel in the L405 is lsightly different it has a 4 point style where as the l494 has a 3 point style but there is not much in it.

L405 has a dual glove box top cubby and bottom cubby (old sport had this so dont know why they stopped it on the L494 as the top cubby was handy!)

Seats in the sport are more sculptured and bucket like for the more huggy sporty feel, and the cabin feels a little smaller and you feel more in the car in L494 than on it like the older one and the L405 sits higher and feels a bigger in the cabin but then it is bigger so should do.

Dims for LR range is here so you can see the differences, it isnt much but it depends on where you go and live I guess. Both are quite big, the Velar is quite ice looking if you get the d300 or the higher models with twin exhaust back bumper but they are also pretty long its almost the same dims as the old 1st gen Sport but not quite as high!

Its horses for courses i guess and maybe let the other half have a go on the parking front in both so you are both happy with it. The best feature of the full is the fold down tail I love it.

Hope you find the one you want, I dont think the sport feels that big anymore but im used to them but if I get in my others halfs little shoe box it feels big the next time I get in! With surround cams and parking they are not that bad and I think the full size has more visibility as the C pillars are not so raked.
