Folding rear seats

I think I'm going mad Laughing ... I've read all the posts I can find about lifting the seat squabs to get a completely flat rear. But for the life of me, I can't find these straps in between the seats that are supposed to release them. Do they break off/disappear? Is there an alternative way of releasing the bases? Anyone got pics?

It's a 2008 RRS.

Thanks.

They (canvass loop) are at the back of the seat just in the middle. You have to be mindful to leave them proud when putting the seats back to the sitting position. 2006 2.7 TDV6 HSE in Cairns Blue.

To state the bleeding obvious, you need someone with small hands. The tab is not that long and will have “fallen” down.
Once you find it its easy to pull and unlock the seat to rotate forward. Then push the tab through the loop which stops it dropping down again. Actually it doesn’t which is why t fell down in the first place.

You can also reach under the rear seat from the boot by pulling the boot floor flap out of the way. This is the flap that folds down to bridge the gap between boot floor and seat back when the seats are flattened. That might give you a way in to find the loop. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

One of the loops did snap on mine, but not the one on the seat Base, the one that releases the back of the seat from the folded flat position. But I'm also continually losing the loops that release the Base, once you've found them it's easy the second time 2010 RRS, TDV8

Gogsy, believe it or not you can actualy buy new straps for the back of the rear as one broke on mine, but I just use a cable tie.

Cheers

Thanks all, I'll take another seat. Been looking under the seat from the boot and from the side doors and nothing was obvious but I'll have another rummage and see what I can see.

If in doubt - read the handbook Laughing

Hint - move the front seats forward first. Dont leave the seats down longer than needed - you get indent marks on the covers and dont have bulky items in the underseat storage - it leaves indents marks on the covers. 07MY RRS TDV6

Thanks for the hint, Garry. This has been driving me nuts - I'm pretty mechanically minded and after reading posts thought it would be dead easy to find the strap. Maybe I'm unlucky and mine have disappeared but I'll take another look.

Col,, I assumed they weren't replaceable as the strap is wrapped around a bar and stitched,,,, unless they unhook somehow. I've got into the habit of pushing down on the release button rather than pulling on the strap. 2010 RRS, TDV8

Yeah, they just unhook and are about £3.00 each. HPH500180PVJ I press down on mine to release it now most of the time as well. Straps not the best idea they just wear through on the sharp edge of the metal bracket.

Cheers

The straps (loops) on mine are stitched on to the back of the seat cushion about half way along the nearside and offside seats between the seat cushion itself and the back of the seat.

I also put a cable ties through each of mine. I don't need to collapse the seat that often so I just tuck the ties down the back of the seat. When I do need to bring the seat down I just feel down the back for the cable ties and pull them up.

My niggle is that being tall, I have to put the front seat as far forward as possible if I have drive with the rear seat completely down, but at least I am able to put them flat. Barrie.
