I've got original Land Rover running boards on my Sport, which have been on the car from new and were on the original spec sheet.

I took a set off a previous sport, just bought a few 8mm x 25mm stainless steel setscrews, bit of copper slip, and just screwed them back in the threaded holes where the brackets were previously fitted, no problems.

This is how they are fitted, it will give you an idea of what's underneath (won't be as new and clean as this though, you may need to get the Hammerite out)

When I took the steps off my TDV8 I found the process to be straight forward. And they'd been off road too so probably more yuck forced around the fixings than most. I certainly don't remember it being a difficult job. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders 2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed |

If they are genuine L/R boards you might find they are already stainless steel bolts fitted which should make it easier, I fitted a set of genuine L/R steps to my current sport and sure the kit came with stainless bolts.

As Kev has said,, turborevs are as good as you'll get for the money. Fitted a set a few months ago to mine as the old ones were rotten. I did coat mine with Hammerite but it didn't take too well to whatever paint is already on so I would try priming them first. 2010 RRS, TDV8

I use mine but could manage without it but my wife is vertically challenged and requires hers to get in all though she never uses it to get out.
