Remote Heater

I just got a 2012 RRS Autobiography, and in the spec it says it has remote heater and 7 day timer. I cant see anything in the instrument cluster or anywhere else about this and looking online it seems there is a seperate key needed?

Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

Thanks

Navigation Screen!! Thanks. That will be the one place I havent looked yet.

Do you know if there is a way to just do it manually, say about 20 minutes before you head out and not having to program it for a daily routine or something?

I have the remote system on mine,, a small fob whereby I can activate the FBH, ( fuel burning heater) from indoors. These are normally referred to as webasto units. If you don't already have this they can be added, I think you would need a little wiring, a reciever module and a fob of course. Do a search on here for webasto or timed climate and you will find a good bit info. 2010 RRS, TDV8

Aha ok thanks. So when it was advertised it states that its there, but more that its 'capable' as opposed to having the key and unit installed? Obviously you didnt see the advert, but its in the standard autotrader 'this car comes with' spec...

The D4 side of this forum has a whole host of info. on this..have a read as it explains everything. If you don't have the remote start for the FBH, there will be someone that can enable it for you.
As a note, The unit is fully automatic, and runs on your car without any driver input to get/keep the engine at temperature. The bonus side of the unit is that it can be timer preset/ remote started, and even SIMcard-phone app. started also.

Hi, I have also recently purchased a RRS and the spec says it has a fuel burning heater. There is nothing on the sat nave or elsewhere to enable it from a timer. Also no key to operate. Any ideas how I can tell if I have the electronics to use a key fob?

Is it definitely an autobiography with the heater as part of the package?

Does the Timed Heating aspect of the FBH need to be activated in the CCF files first by any chance? The A/B had park heating and remote control as standard and the HSE it was a option according to the sales brochure. There are a couple of pages 60/61 in the Owners Handbook on how to access and set it via. the home screen menu.

Cheers
Col

Hi it’s an HSE. I needed to ask Land Rover for the spec for something else and it says fuel burning heater on the spec. I looked through the manual and accessed where it says on the screen but there is nowhere that’s shows the functionality. I assumed it needed the remote. But reading some other info I am now not sure if it just means the heater is there but the receiver and fob and the system needs programming to use it. I don’t want to buy a remote fob and the find I need to spend a few hundred pounds have all the rest done.

To see if you have the module, just look behind the panel in the right hand side of the boot...

My car didn't come with a module so I bought one from eBay from a FFRR for £45 (part no 8H52-18D540-AA), £25 for a new antenna from Duckworths (LR008654) and £50 for a new remote (LR027493).

When buying the remote, make sure you get
the correct one. It should have an 'ON' button and not a heating element button.

Don't get this one:

Get this one:

To configure timed climate using the IID tool (to give you the option on the dash)....
IIDTool Menu->Car Config->HVAC Ventilation->
Fuel Burning Heater is equal to Fitted parking heat
Timed Climate is equal to Enable

And to configure remote park heat, if you have the module and remote....
IIDTool Menu->Car Config->HVAC Ventilation->
FBH Call Start is equal to Fitted radio. Kev

England

Hi all

I just thought Id try this down here in the South of the UK and mine works the only thing I am not overly impressed with is that by the time I come back to the car having let it run for its 20mins the car is steamed up inside like Ive lent it to some teenagers on prom night!

It was a cold day but only maybe down to about 8 and Im right on the south coast at a mariner, I set the temp to 22 degrees on auto and climate is always on, Im guessing that when the car heater comes on there is no AC functions running so the car will naturally steam up inside unless you were in really cold and dry climates.

I guess the park heat function uses the little diesel heater to heat and then in the summer I guess it will just vent the car.

I can confrim that the manual heat and manual vent buttons are greyed out when the ignition is on (i guess they are only for passengers to use if the key is not present If a jobs worth doing, get a someone who knows what they are doing to do it!

How strange. Mine never steams the car up and it runs every day. Kev
