Unidentified diagram on instrument panel

Might seem a daft question but here goes:

On the instrument panel between the clocks, I occasionally get a diagram of what I assume to be the 4 wheel drive system. No messages, just the picture. The only time I see it is going up the unpaved lane to my house. The front wheels are turned.
Is this an indication that some part of the 4WD system is activated? I get to my house to park up and the message vanishes.
I looked through the handbook but cant seem to find any reference.
My terrain response is always set to Auto. RRS HSE Dynamic SDV6 2014

The Terrain Response system has noticed that you're on something other than tarmac and responded accordingly. The picture you're seeing is an aide memoir to help you know which way your wheels are pointing - important in some off road situations.

It might be interesting to bring up the 4x4 info screen before you go up the lane and see if the differentials are activating, for example. It might show that one of the Terrain Response programmes is being selected by the system too. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Thanks for the reply, the lane is not surfaced so glad the car recognises this. Not sure how to activate the 4x4 info screen.
Can you advise?
The handbook is fairly lightweight on this subject. RRS HSE Dynamic SDV6 2014

I think it's under "extras". 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
