If you can see this wire in the illustration coming out from the top of the damper you have Variable Damping, have a quick look under your n/s/f wheel arch as that is the easiest one to see, or it is on my s/c which had it as standard, I think it may also have been standard fitting on all later variants except the SE.

The twisty road icon to the left of the "normal" setting on Terrain Response is the easiest clue. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

That's interesting then as I only have 5 settings on that dial... a google search seems to indicate the twisty road icon would be the 6th.

A quick check of one of the rear units (easier to get to the top of them than the fronts) to see if you have a cable and an air hose or just an air hose, would also be worth doing just to be sure. If it's just an air hose, then they're passive units. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

N/S/F is the easiest to see if you have a wire coming out of the centre of the strut as you can see directly on to the top of it, without raising suspension or at least you can on mine.

Just been and looked at mine and the view is pretty much the same front and rear- so we're agreed that he has no excuses for not being able to figure it out on way or another. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

If you don't have the active dampers, Derek, the part number you need is LR016419.
