The car has been ours since April and will continue to be so until April 2022, when we'll trade it in for a newer model.

The service warning light came up. 3500km until next service.
The main dealer we bought it from wants 1700€ for the service which is : Next service : 68,258 km / 12-Dec-2020 / - Motor oil & filter, clean air filter, brake fluid and transmission oil.

I've read many times that services at the main dealer are not must haves anymore, but it seemed to be for cars that were older or being kept. I haven't looked into the costs for the same service at an Indie but will be cheaper. and that does seem to be some very expensive oil changes.

It'll be 4 years old when you sell it? if so, maybe, buyers would be ok with non-franchise servicing. But it's borderline at that age. Will you save more over 2 or 3 years of servicing cost that the relative reduction in value? Only you can do that equation for your home market. It would clearly help if the independent has a solid gold reputation, like a few UK independents where, a savvy buyer would say "phew, glad it's been serviced there rather than a crappy main dealer!" L405 P400e Autobiography (MY2020)... Have had 3 quotes now - the dealer we bought it from @ 1700€
Another authorised dealer 2 hours away @ 1800€ and then an indie, and i'm not sure if they have the ability to update the log book digitally. @ 1208€
