Hello had similar issues recently and first LR specialist said I needed a new DPF at considerable cost but still had same issue. Took to another LR specialist and it was the MAF sensors and now running great. |

Black smoke above 2000rpm could be a simple split intercooler hose or it could be one of several other things.

Just remember it's a motoring offence in the UK to do such a thing. If it's undiscovered then it's no problem but it'll likely invalidate your insurance as well. |

Had black smoke from my 2005 TDV6 a few years ago, checked the 3 hoses (seems to be the usual problem) but the fault turned out to be a crack in the intercooler itself. Part replaced, running great ever since. |
