Spotify on bluetooth

Hi, I have taken ownership of a 2014 HSE. I have paired my iPhone X and bluetooth calling works fine. Can anyone help me with Spotify though. If I choose bluetooth streaming the phone fires up Apple Music. I cannot seem to get Spotify to play on Bluetooth even though it does recognise that it is connected via bluetooth.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards

I have a 2017 RRS With the Incontrol Infotainment and previous to this I had a 2012 Evoque with the old system which I think will be the same as yours. I have this issue with an app I frequently use for football commentary because it is not supported by CarPlay and with yours, the system likes to look in the Apple Music directory because that’s where it thinks the music is.
What you need to do is fire up the app and start it playing through Bluetooth from your phone. The lightning cable also needs to be disconnected from the USB port. This should work although how much control over it you’ll have, I don’t know.

Thanks, yeah I should have updated this thread. What I need to do is manually load up Apple Music app before selecting Bluetooth as the audio source. Once the music starts playing, I then close down Apple Music and load up Spotify and it works fine. I haven't tried any on screen controls as I just have a big playlist on random. Current - 2020 Range Rover Sport P400e

It’s a bit of a ball ache to be honest, but it’s a workaround. I remember the control even when using Apple Music was pretty poor but CarPlay is brilliant in comparison.

spotify resolution

I have found that just deleting Apple music from the phone resolves this issue, assuming you dont need apple music, which I didnt !

Hope this helps
