Tailgate open warning

I filled the car several times at the weekend to take a lot of stuff to the dump site. I didn’t notice when loading the car, but when emptying the car, after a while I noticed that the rear lights, indicators and even reversing lights were giving a pretty lightshow. It seemed to last a few minutes before they gave up trying to attract my attention.

I can only presume this was some kind of attempt to remind me that I had left the tailgate wide open. Pretty neat. RRS MY17 SDV6 AB

If you have the electric deployable towbar then there is a button in the boot (with the towbar button) that checks all the rear lights (inc caravan when coupled) so you can do it on your own.

I do have one of those. I wonder if something was pushing against it and therefore the RRS wasn’t being clever and warning me after all! RRS MY17 SDV6 AB
