Had the orange "normal height available only" light but the car doesn't drop and car going to garage for service and MOT.
I suspected the suspension compressor was U/S but mechanic didn't think the light was an MOT fail so took it any way. Got a call saying that the car had dropped to it's bump stops during the test when it was jacked up to test bushes etc and as the suspension then did not move it unsurprisingly failed.
The had it's tea leaves read and a failed compressor was diagnosed which was replaced, service completed and retest passed.
When I picked it up as soon as I started it up I had the "restricted performance" message on the dash. Fortunately, the guy who has the fault reader laptop was at the garage (although the mechanic is a LR specialist and ex-LR tech, he doesn't do the electrickery side of things, hence the guy who does) and a fault with the fuel filter head was diagnosed. The fault was cleared and hasn't come on again, but I said to get it done when he can fit it in.
I drove the 30 odd miles home, and just before turning into the lane where I live, I heard a rubber bush type creaking noise coming from the front on turning at low speed.
I took the car back the following day, but obviously couldn't replicate it. We had it up on the lift and the front ARB bushes got a spray of lubricant, nothing was loose or obviously amiss. At the same time we saw that the front brake flexible pipes really needed replacing. Booked in for that as well.
By the time I returned home, it was creaking again.
I took it for a good run today and whilst it was all quiet on setting off, by the time I'd done about 45 miles it was creaking/groaning during low speed manoeuvring again. By the time I got home it was creaking from the rear as well. I suspect that tomorrow doing a short journey will be silent as it seems to need 30-30 miles to start playing up.
Before it went in there were no creaks/groans.
I don't resent bills for putting thing right/maintenance, but I am seriously dispirited that the car now creaks and groans like an old tramp. In fairness to the mechanic, he's had a look and as I said, I couldn't replicate the problem.
If anyone has any ideas what is up with it, I'm all ears. Without knowing whats causing the groaning, I am loath to start throwing money changing parts on an ad hoc basis.
I can't help but wonder if driving from the test station back to the garage may have damaged something, although the mechanic dismisses that idea.

I had the same noise issues with my 2010 TDV8. As well as the loud creaking/squeaking at low speeds (which generally occurred once the car had been on a run or in warm weather), I would also sometimes get a clonk from the front on really rough roads.

I was advised by a very well regarded specialist (a member on here) that it was very likely the ARB bushes were well past their best (60,000 miles on the car) so last week I replaced them together with new drop links which weren't showing any issues but given their modest cost I took the view that I may as well replace them at the same time. If your car has ACE/Dynamic Anti Roll Bars then I can confirm that replacing them yourself at home is not a five minute job as I'm sure others will attest!

However the car is transformed, no more squeaking, no more clonks and feels much tighter all round. Yesterday on our first run out since, my family commented on how much quieter and smoother the car was on our bumpy country backroads although my wife has now noticed a rattle coming from the rear parcel shelf area, so now to fix that one!

It may seem that there's no obvious issue with the ARB bushes when inspected on a ramp and mine didn't show any visible movement when inspected in the same way but were well past being effective as the pictures below show - the new one is obviously on the left

I really appreciate your reply, I was getting quite despondent.
I don't think I have the technical ability (or patience) to do it myself on the drive, so sounds like another few hours labour.
At least there's some light at the end of the tunnel.
Out of curiosity, anyone know what the book time is?

I've got mine booked in for replacement in a couple of weeks time, the estimate shows 1.6hrs of labour

At £3.70 a bush they must be top quality.

The link I posted has 3 different versions. I was planning on going for the genuine ones for £18 each and obviously not the £3 ones . I was just checking is this is the correct part that is needed.

Hi' wasn't having a go at you in anyway, could have worded it a little better I guess, it's just that people do buy this cheap crap part's and when it doesn't last it's the vehicles that's a piece of s**t.
