It does look like a good solution ,

I wouldnt suggest doing a groupbuy until some one buys a single unit and tests it . As you can see from my post, these units aint all good :p

Oman 2006 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Vesuvius Orange

Looks interesting but I'd be careful, several things look 'off' to me:

1. It shows climate contrls, but, OEM controls are below?
2. The images of the display seem photoshooped.
3. On one image you can see the display is not square and that chinese script is partially hidden in the lower corners.
4. No images of the rear showing connections.
5. I assume significant cutting needs to be done to the dash for it to fit.
6. No basic fitting instructions provided.

Whilst I'm also very interested in this, I'm hesitant on how it wil work. As Mr. luke as posted there are problems, one being audio.

I will however enquire and see what feedback I get.

Cheers

Ok so I have spoken to them.

It raises more concerns as they state there is no cutting. Which is impossible. Also state AC controls work on screen, but OEM controls shown below screen. Also no 8nformation about audio, but I suspect it's via aux in.

Waiting to receive further photos and video.

Will post once I have more

hello, indeed you are right you have to be careful with this unit and test it before. I found a video that shows more detail but not enough. to be continued

What's interesting is that the stereo uses the fibre optic connection for the audio which is a massive plus.

From the installation video it's clear to see that the front cross member for the OEM screen is cut out, contrary to what the sales asssistanc said. No problem for me as I already chopped it out.

Another thing that's clear from the videos is that the stereo DOES NOT control the AC, again contrary to the info I recieved. But I don't mind that. He didn't connect those cables only for the head unit and hazard warning lights, where you seem to lose functionality depending on your set-up.

It would seem it comes with a dedicated CANBUS broker so steering wheel controls should work, even though the video shows a 2005-09 model with a later 2010 steering wheel.

Resolution looks pretty good at 1920x1080.

This to check would be if App can open in default split screen mode as having phone or FM radio opening in fullscreen would be a bit OTT.

Also would like to see what Android Auto looks like on a vertical screen as I haven't seen it.

Finally, not overly impressed by the fact the AC vent covers are 9ntegrated in to the frame design as have the noble chrome covers and wouldn't want to lose them as well as having to paint all the plastic piano black.

Waiting to get further information, but am tempted.. would need a 4g dongle though.

So....

Been doing more research and there are several resellers of this unit at lower prices. Also the specs seem to vary with regards the resolution.

I've now determined it support 4G natively, so no need for a 4G dongle, justy a sim card.

I'm still trying to get images/ videos of the OEM interface on the 12.1 screen but having difficulty making myself understood.

Also, from expericence the fibre optic converters don't offer front to rear sound adjustment so not sure if the DSP they talk about has any real value. Trying to get an answer on that also.

However, if I get some good answers and my job is secure Rolling with laughter I might be tempted to go for it and see.

Andy K,

Have you come across fibre optic converters that support front to back and left to right balancing? The only ones I could find only support left to right balance.

I realise this is 'pre built' into the stereo but seems only to have same number of cables as the retro fit ones.

If you know where I can get a F+B /L+R balance retro fit unit please point me in the right direction.

Cheers

So, I've made some progress with a different supplier

And generally it looks positive...ish

Here's what I've learnt:

1. Its an FYT reseller model with PX6 SoC, coming with 4Gb RAM and 64Gb ROM, expandable via USB (forgot to ask about SD card). This is good news as there's lots of information on FYT PX6 stereos on XDA Forums, so modifications, fault resolution etc should be pretty good from the community.
2. As it's an FYT you can upload your own bootanimation using the lsec6251 file on an USB. This means you can create your owm Range Rover boot animation. THis would give you a Land Rover boot logo, followed by Range Rover boot animation.
3. It supports 4G SIM card, WiFi, and WiFi hotspot
4. Screen is 12.1 inch with 1280x800 resolution. Not great, but okay.
5. It supports vehicle information, including suspension etc. Unfortunately, I could get any screen shots of this working. BIG WORRY.
6. AC works over CAN Bus on screen, but not sure about additional functions. SLIGHT CONCERN AS OEM AC CONTROLS PRESENT
7. Supports OEM camera and parking sensors
8. The Fibre Optic converter should support L&R and F&R sound adjustment via the DSP and CANBus. Whilst I was scepticle I have found my AVIC fibre converter provides the same (despite it specifically saying it can't) when connected to my Joyong (FYT) android stereo with DSP.
9. Split screen mode is supported.
10. It supports SWC, but, not the Voice Command found in some Sports.
11. Boot time is 9-10seconds, there's no real fast boot mode. However, the hardwired FM radio starts during boot and after boot the last used media app launches. Much like the Joying, no surprise as it's FYT based.

So all round pretty happy with the answers. Still have questions over voice control, especially with Android Auto.

Currently trying to negotiate that if I piurhase they provide a prepaid return postage should the 4x4 information screen etc not be displayed.

Also need to confirm the colour as in some photos it looks like black plastic in others a more gloss black/piano black finish.

Anyway here are some more photos:

Would appreciate any feedback and other questions to ask that I've forgotten as this would benefit all those interested.

Cheers

Hi,

Someone has fitted a similar unit in a D4 and they seem happy with the results so far:
