New squsspesion & compressor

Hi all,

I am going to replace my suspension and compressor early next month (after pay day) and after recommendations / reviews on the dunlop struts & Dunlop (Hitachi) compressor.

these are the cheapest I can realistically do it for but want to make sure I'm not causing more work by going to the cheaper end of the market.

Also any pointers / additional consumables you would recommend purchasing prior to starting this next endeavour ....

Compressor could be serviced near pay day if you are ok with tools

I renewed all four strut assemblies and the compressor and used Dunlop components. The ride is great and everything is working fine.

They are made in the UK and all good quality. Whatever you do, don't touch the Chinese tat on eBay.

LR Parts usually have the best prices...

Thanks Kev,

LR parts are only a few miles away from me so will be looking to get the parts from them.

just wondering about fitting kits / fixtures & fittings that might / should be replaced at the same time as I don't want to be without it if I end up waiting for the parts to be delivered...

That's handy to have them on your doorstep!

The new struts come with new nuts on the top (3 per strut) and new VOSS connectors for the airlines. Make sure you have a 15mm flexi head ratchet spanner handy as it can be difficult to get to the furthest nut. The only other thing is the bottom nut and bolt but you can reuse those.

For the compressor, it will come with a new relay which is advisable to replace. All the existing fixings can be reused. One of bolts is a bit of a Censored to get back in but what you can do is put the bolt in the chassis first, then cut a slot in the bracket, slide the bracket over and tighten the bolt up afterwards. Kev

I can confirm tge struts are cheapest at LR Parts as I've just had the front pair done. They were £210 +vat and delivery.

Wow, they've gone up in price since I bought mine. I think I paid about £150 + VAT.

I bought from John Craddock as they were the cheapest back then. Kev

Only issue is what version has been fitted... hittachi or amk

Dunlops are a direct Hitachi replacement. So it'll be a like for like swap if you are replacing. Kev

Thanks Kev,

I had in my head that Dunlop produced two versions... don’t know why.

I looked at removing the compressor but looking at the state of the bracket and bolts I think I will leave it in place for the time being.

I took off the drier and opened it up. Confirmed it was the first filter disc only causing the problem so will replace it in the coming days with a service kit..

Removed it and moved the other filter disc as a temp fix so all is ok for the time being..
