My defender was like that. I left it for an mot one day and poked the keys through the letterbox only to realise my phone was on the dash still. Not to worry, I had a locker key in my pocket, job done........ Joined the X5 45e club

I locked the keys in my then three year old Ford Capri 2.8, dealer mechanic came out and attempted various ways to gain entry to no avail so he got his own keys out for his Escort and bingo.

When I was couriering in the late 80s, stopped the bike beside a yellow Capri. There were a few people trying to open the door to get the keys locked inside. I went and delivered my parcel, came out and they were still at it. Got a piece of packing tape out the top box, asked to have a go, opened it and walked off

My first car back in 1971 was a Vauxhall Velox Hydramatic, when I bought it the old boy who bought it new in 1964 showed me how to get into it without a key ,you simply thumped any of the doors with the palm of your hand just under the door handle & the little button just popped up inside & door was open. I tried the same thing on several other vehicles over the years & it worked on many of them as well, misspent youth 😃😀😄 |

I did that on a neighbours wedding Rolls Royce, used packing tape and unlocked it in seconds (possibly saving the wedding day). This was in front of all our neighbours who looked astonished, so I simply said "sign of a misspent youth" as I walked off......
