Celtic tuning remap

Ive been considering a remap for the last few weeks and looked for a local Alive installer. I thought I'd found one 20 mins up the road. After looking at his website it seems he is now doing celtic tuning. I've had a celtic remap on my BMW from another garage and it was great but has anyone used celtic for an early Sdv6. He just phoned with a slot available this afternoon for £275+ vat

I don't know anything about Celtic remaps so I wouldn't like to comment. However, I remember a few threads that have recently come up where they were mentioned...

Yes I'd seen those, you find good and bad reviews for anything if you look, I'm sure there are a couple of bad reviews about mother Teresa.

Sounds like you've already made your mind up, regardless of what advice you would be given...

The reality does not match the myth there, that's for sure. A lot of people suffered at her hands over the years. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Hi with my newb mind why up the bhp up why not just buy the super charged version in the first place, i have the 2.7 v6 its not that it can do the quarter mile fastest its about a little bit refinement, or if you fancy off roading it will do want you want, up engines to their max capability, i don't think they will last as as designed to be, like the modern engines lower capacity and add adblue and run at top rev range to go any where, the durability of the new type engines i doubt will be any good. Just my penny worths.

It's got nothing to do with going fast, it's about tourqe and mpg for me, I have a fireblade that does 0-60 in 2.8 for fun. I use the rr for towing the horses and weekends away

Part of the reason for a remap, at least on the SDV6, is to improve throttle response from pull away and in some part throttle situations. It's not really so much about giving a bucket full of additional performance. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Hi well if just mpg and towing for economy purposes i don't think it would really make that much difference to be honest, stay safe on the fire blade was a witness to a nasty bike accident last week were both biker and pillion passenger badly hurt due to delivery van not paying attention.

not to hijack a thread, but can remaps be done by plebs like me? am handy enough with a computer for reflashing and have a gap tool.

Not sure on a RR but I think if you understand where the fueling map is stored and you know what your doing then yes but I'd leave it to the experts. Maps used to be coded in hexi decimal so you would need to understand that too (that's the easy bit)

I'm more than happy to leave this bit to Alive, and just read/install the map files Laughing Shocked

You can do them with the IID. But you need to pay for the MAP file from BAS, which will be several 100
