New to the RRS world and get the feeling some specialists have only got a 'specialist' pricing structure (i.e. see the Range Rover badge and add 50%!) without necessarily having the gear or know how.

Ye AJR are knowledgeable guys or my preference is Landranger Services in Stockport, Martin there is extremely helpful and is almost always available to discuss an issue rather than just give you a price. Ive used them a few times and found there service brilliant.

A couple of years ago I took my Sport into A1 for an oil service, due to the car having been serviced there for the past 10 years by the previous owner, all went fine with no issues. In early 2018, i booked in at A1 again for a minor issue, a diagnostic check priced at about £60 IIRC. On the day of this appointment i got a phone call from the boss at A1, I'd basically forgotten about the appointment and he was going ape about how much money he'd lost due to my no show. I apologized and explained that I'd simply forgot. I'd forgotten due to having to deal with literally dozens and dozens of hospital and clinic appointments with my then 17 yr old daughter who had been diagnosed with a Brain Tumour !! Later that year my sport developed the hard brake pedal issue, due to engine oil migrating up to the brake booster. I rang A1 to book it in with them " your'e the guy who didn't show up earlier this year costing me money" he recognized my voice ! "Ye I apologized about that" I then explained the health issues with my daughter. " I'm not taking on any work from you again" was his response and he hung up on me ! Now I'm tighter than cramp so the money he lost due to my no show I guarantee was under £100 but he has basically blacklisted me. That's why i say avoid A1, their work may be A1 but the attitude of the guy in charge is appalling. I got the job done at a place in Leyland near Preston eventually. |
