Just purchased my tdv8 and it only came with 1 key, can anyone recommend where to get second key , alternative to the stealers ?

the first thing to do is to take a clear picture of the key blade,

When I got my 2010 MY RRS a couple of years ago, it only had one key. I think a car with only one key is not a good idea - quite apart from not knowing who's got the other one!

My Indy got a new key, but then found that the KVM module wouldn't let them program it. They had to fit a new KVM module, so the total cost was abot £420 - all genuine LR parts.

BUT the new KVM module allows me to disable/enable the keyless entry, so from my perspective that was a worthwhile invstement.

A lot of people have had good results.
But the quality of the current supply is unknown. So a gamble.

I did this recently myself. Purchased a key from eBay. Sent it to keysinthepost to have the barrel cut £12, then programmed it with my IID tool  2006 2.7 TDV6 HSE in Cairns Blue.

Makes me laugh ! But they really can cut a key from a digital photo ! Wow .. I have taken several pics , so will have a good hunt on eBay and send off to get cut , is the iid tool easy to use to program the key ? For a complete novice , I'm assuming its many other uses so perhaps a good investment

IID tool is probably the most effective thing you can buy for your car. Sell it on when you move on. Buy used for around £325 posted and check the sister sites to. Plenty of help about but ultimately you have to look over the cliff (have a play). Sorry poor analogy  2006 2.7 TDV6 HSE in Cairns Blue.

each key position has a potential of 3 or 4 options. (from no cutting to all of it cut away), ones you know how the key is designed it's easy to tell from a picture. It is then effectively cut from a code (rather than a worn key)

The problem I found was that the blade I got from keys in the post did not easily fit the china key. Nothing a file or saw wouldn't sort in my case, but Steve's method avoids this
