Yeah, I've just read the first chapter. It's very interesting to understand how previous development projects, that were eventually canned, influenced the design. Some of the concept images are very interesting too - two door versions with edge pull door handles for example! Kev

I got it for Christmas. Very informative on how it arrived and the different model years. Silly little details but I won’t mention them until you’ve read it 2006 2.7 TDV6 HSE in Cairns Blue. |

I just hope that something still happens for the 50th year of the model rather than it just gets forgotten about. |

If/when the Motor Heritage Centre at Gaydon re-opens they have the full scale styling model - called Range Stormer that RRS was based onr - with 2 gull wing or scissor doors and laminated wooden seats....... in Vesuvius Orange on display. It’s a good day out if you are passing by or staying not too far away. Their cafe was my mid morning / lunch stop when I was driving north from west London to Scotland. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

There's a pic of it in the book, Tim. Apparently the hydraulic doors no longer work because they went faulty and the company built it in Italy went bust so it was never repaired.

I think the Stormer actually presaged the Evoque in some ways, at least in terms of the large body, small glasshouse styling proportions etc. I doubt it had anything to do with it, but maybe it just planted a seed in the design team's mind about sporty proportions. After all, the whole range has moved increasingly in the direction of lots of body, reduced glass height ever since.
